Prepare:
1 bowl of water
Scissors
2 wooden sticks
1 towel (with hole cut in center for
your ear)
Lighter
Find a comfortable place (massage
table, couch or bed). Lie down flat on your back and turn
head to the side. Please have someone assist you with the
ear coning process for your safety and relaxation.
Have your assistant place the small
towel over your exposed ear to protect your hair and clothing
from any wax drippings.
Light the cone at the wide end and
wait until the smoke spirals out before placing the cone in
the ear.
Place the small end of the cone in the
ear canal comfortably at a 45 degree upward angle creating a
seal so the smoke does not escape from the ear canal.
Check the ear cone every two inches
and cut off the burnt cloth over a water bowl leaving a small
portion that is still aflame. Use the wooden stick to clear
the cone of any wax or powder that is preventing the smoke
from coming out of the cone.
Continue to burn the ear cone until it
reaches four inches from the bottom. Extinguish the cone in
water and unwrap to see contents. Ear wax comes in various
colors; gold, dark brown, green, etc. There is usually a
difference between the amount of wax found in each ear as
well.
If wax is still present after the
initial coning repeat the process once. You may repeat the
process again in three days to one week.
